Description:

LZ 129 HINDENBURG CREW MEMBERS AND VICTIMS
An interesting signed item, a 5.5 x 3.5 in. b/w real-photo postcard depicting the rigid airship LZ 129 Hindenburg at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. The verso bears the signatures of eleven crewmembers and other individuals connected to the airship, including: elevatorman LUDWIG FELBER, who perished when the airship burst in to flames and crashed on May 6, 1937; Chief Engineer RUDOLF SAUTER; rigger HANS FREUND; and U.S. Customs agent CHARLES G. RAPSHER. The remaining signatures are unidentified by us, but worthy of further research! The card has been coated with lacquer on the recto and verso, else very good. Also present is a second real-photo postcard showing the Hindenburg airborne at Lakehurst, two vintage 10 x 6.25 in. b/w reproductions of the images featured on the included postcards, and a May 7, 1937 newspaper clipping listing dead and missing passengers and crew. Five pieces.
