Description:

LYNETTE 'SQUEAKY' FROMME
(b. 1948) ‘Squeaky', follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. A.L.S., ‘Red', 2pp. 4to., Alderson, [n.d. but noted as ‘Friday'], to Nuel Melton, Charles Manson's biographer. In part: ‘…Today has been a rough road. My map is full of detours. When I get going at a project, there is some ego to block it – not because it is illegal or unhealthful or bad for the institution – just because of an individual's need to hold control in order to feel big. See now Charlie was accused of being an egomaniac with a lot of followers. It was & is not so. We can get into that sometime. Right now, I feel dissappointed [sic]. I've not been real well, yet not sick. I would advise myself (from an objective viewpoint) to ignore the warden's interuptions [sic] and to do what I can do. Sometimes they won't let you do much of anything. I could tell a hundred stories about that but I rarely bother to repeat the things I see that initially could try [?] my gears. I just feel bad today and that's the way it is. Saw Mr. Emmons and we had a short talk. I wasn't ready for it as I was making some notes to discuss w/ him. My case worker came early & I didn't get any letters sent or a call made. There was no answer in Greenwood's office & he had information for me - I got my little finger stuck in a hole in the gate, that was comic relief. None of that bothers me as much as that one individual who plays power over us and its not just one of him - there are many…' . With her original artwork: two black stamps on the front page from her ‘onion print experiment'. Fine. With a copy of her booking form and a photograph of Fromme with SANDRA GOOD.
