Description:

(b. 1948) "Squeaky", follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. Fine association A.L.S. "Red" (the name attached to her by Manson) with holograph envelope addressed and signed "Lynette Fromme 6075" in return address area, 6pp. 4to., San Diego, Aug. 2, 1978 in pencil to CHARLES MANSON, then incarcerated in Vacaville, Ca. Fromme opens her letter with a lengthy recounting of her meeting with a prison chaplain and their discussion about religion and Noah's ark. She continues: "...I think you'd like to seek mentors like that. Then again - I'd get sick of that kind of talk too...all you are is our balance reflecting like sunlight in water through the trees...Keith Barngrover is out again...He likes to get reckless and return to more[?[ jail...Tex's mom & dad hold on backwards?...AB & everything else fell apart...I'd like to eat my pillow but I don't eat chicken...When Mary returned to the ranch from Wisconsin she went to see Bruce who was in hiding...was a black riot and he & some others were surrounded by angry Muslims...I know you want to hear from family first..." More rather incoherent text. Interestingly, Manson has written "INNOCENSE" at the bottom of one page. Very good. From a grouping of Fromme's letters in the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote "Manson in His Own Words".
