Description:

(b. 1948) "Squeaky", follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. Fine content heavily-illustrated A.L.S. with her initial "R" for "Red", the name attached to her by Manson, 16pp. 4to., July 15 [n.y., ca. 1980], [n.p. likely prison in Alderson, WV), to CHARLES MANSON, probably in Vacaville, Ca. A lengthy, involved letter showing her devotion to Manson as she sketches 11 different designs of clothing she hopes to make for him. She writes, in small part: "...Look at drawings and tell me what you want. I would rather choose some different material...do you want the sleeves big under the arm for easy movement...Do you want it long top the top of your legs? And front open or slip over? I don't remember how buckskins were made...I haven't sent you money from here because it requires an approval thing from both wardens...you're not happy, Blue's [Sandra Good] not happy and now I'm not happy...he found out I was married to you in my heart & mind he wanted to adopt me so I would get his 80 acre ranch. Sounds like an extension of George [Spahn, owner of Spahn Ranch]...I didn't play him for all I could get...I let him touch me and feel like a man. Do you want to hear about that?...I'm not a good whore never been interested in money..." Fromme also includes an additional two pages of her proposed clothing designs for garments she hopes to make for Manson. Much more fine content. From a grouping of Fromme's letters in the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote "Manson in His Own Words".
