Description:

LYNETTE FROMME
(b. 1948) 'Squeaky', a follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. A.Ms. (unsigned), 14pp. 4to., [n.p.] but written in prison, ‘Wednesday 23', from Fromme to CHARLES MANSON. In part: '...About symbols – no lyons [sic] in England and Scotland, but as I know it there were no lions in Greece and Rome either unless the ones imported for the Roman circus for eating Christians and criminals...Bucky has been with Hally and Lucky...Hally gave our presents to Buck...they don't celebrate Xmas...Bucky has a dog...The Contessa has expressed to me that she didn't know what to send Buck...Lucky...talked about Jewish mothers who say ‘look at all I've done for you and see what thanks I get' I was glad to hear he was hip to that game...Miss Moose and a big black woman just came here from the nut house. I don't like for her to ever see me because she imitates everything for her own distorted cause...Hard to hold the fear up over people who want to die, and there is always someone waiting for you to get tired or slip and there is always an ego around...I asked Z to send you a couple of books sent to me...About fathers, yes Nixon, the judge and all of them. You know how everyone in a cell can see from here on back before and on into the future...There comes a time when I'm not so healthy, mind and body. It's something I do to myself...Your letters – each one I could spend at least a week thinking about – you pour them out like juice in glasses and to the mind of conditioned people they can be like putty to drink...I'll tell you one other things about pictures. I wanted to have some good ones for you and wanted the whole thing on my own terms and I was so pissed that the warden put his foot in it and knowing I can't do anything about it...He would love me to fight him. He hates us...God is my top not some egotistical hot shot who bullies people to get respect...He's white...The guy who gave our correspondence back is black...Ironic how backwards it is...I don't like to write you KA letters because in the deep deep I know and beyond the faces those real feelings bring me down to you...All I can do is advise others in seeing you are well taken care of on the food and money side – health etc...I sometimes think what magic luck or fate to have been sitting there when you appeared...Us is me. Each has loved you differently...You've given me the tools to do what I want...I have never liked that thought that was pushed on us about us thinking we were the chosen people...' Fromme seems to be in an introspective mood while writing this letter, continuously speaking on how she needs to work on herself before helping others. Mailing folds, else fine.
