LYNETTE FROMME
(b. 1948) ‘Squeaky', follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford but failed to get a shot off when her gun jammed. A.L.S. ‘Red Lynette Fromme' 2pp. 4to., Alderson, WV, Jan. 9, 1980, to Nuel (‘Mel') Emmons, Manson's biographer and co-author of ‘Manson in His Own Words'. Fromme writes an aggressive letter to Emmons in response to a request by her friend and ‘family' member KATHY ZUBER for money from Emmons. In part: ‘…Look bud, I've heard of bee bop & I've heard of jive but I sure hope you made your word good to my little friend Zab [Kathy Zuber] because she was counting on you. Did you just get out of what? If so, you can write to me & I'll catch you up on 10 years or so & then you can catch me up on the last 4 of your coveted outside confused world. Right now I'm not impressed w/you. I may be younger but you can't look down on me. Oh, you have an ‘awareness' type thing for ‘younger people' huh YOU ROTTEN DOG! Excuse my flare of emotion I don't mean to call you names…We are not a bunch of B. Hunts to f--- around. We could cut up your face with words if we chose to. You write like you're so cool you can burn people and if you don't send that $ you promised I hope the next pussy you get into is like dry ice…'. With original holograph envelope. WITH: the original A.L.S. of KATHY ZUBER signed ‘Zab/Zabs', 4pp. 4to, [n.p., n.d.], to Emmons in bold felt tip asking for $700.00 as ‘…Charlie says you offered to help this year, so he finally sent me 3 Xmas box approval-forms…I need $700…please send it right away…Yes, I would like to visit Charlie with you. This next spring or summer…Charlie says I may can [sic] help you with the book. What are you writing?...'. Zuber then lists the things she would like to send Manson, and adds: ‘…I want to make them extra-good…'. Two pieces, very good. From the estate of Mel Emmons.
