Description:

LYNETTE FROMME
(b. 1948) 'Squeaky', a follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. Lengthy A.Ms.S. ‘R', 13pp. 4to., San Diego, California, July 19, 1976, from Fromme to CHARLES MANSON. In small part: '...Here is a color calendar that ain't too good cause it's just old time without numbers...This [swastika] begins the month. ‘X' ends it...The Captain here who says he's not infallible says he's...put the 10 photos I was sending to you in another of my envelopes...I will hold him responsible if they are not returned...outside you're supposed to BE SOMEBODY – and have an occupation and income and verifications and all sorts of BS not necessary to life purposes. Without those things one's image outside is threatening...you might want to kill and what affect would that have...I am more aware of certain things. That everyone lies. That (most) everyone hides their hate...I met a woman tonight who said her husband explained to her kids about you and that there were reasons for the murders...She was thinking of like demonstrating and at the same time she said something realistic – that talk is cheap and especially jail talk...went all the way back through high school poem writing brain into self destructive too much coffee and cigs and late night struggles with the pen or typewriter trying to make the most bestest mind blowing dancing twisting punning striking book in the world...Aware or not aware I would love to gribby and libble and make up sounds only for the humm of it – If I can cut the temptations loose to strike out against circle suck and stop feeling anguished about what others say...I always am asked why Tex and Sue and Bob said you told him. I explain that in our world we were ending their world and as Sadie said, she wanted the whole world to know about you...Boy this family of murderers would blow any sensible person's front off...I hear you...and you are a breather, sitter, be-er. You said I left you 2 times. How 2?...In my mind Mary is definitely a bitch...she's strong as a horse and I don't think I could beat her up unless I sneaked up on her...You said your death was my soul – I don't understand that...I got a copy of a letter from Tex...it's like he thinks I'm accepting a different Lord. I'd better send that book back – say no. They got the author to autograph it so it ought to hurt their feelings real nice...A guy from an English gas station said he was ‘willing to marry‘ me to get me out and we'd get H.M. (Her Majesty's) permission. I explained to him I am married...Your ‘main lady' and all that dummyhead B.S...' The first page has been ‘tie-dyed' and there are a few small drawings by Fromme throughout, presumably for Manson's pleasure. Accompanied by holograph transmittal envelope. Mailing folds, else fine.
