Description:

LYNETTE FROMME
(b. 1948) 'Squeaky', a follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. Fine content typed letter (unsigned), 2pp. 4to., written from the Federal Jail in San Diego [n.d.], to CHARLES MANSON, then in Vacaville, Ca. WITH the holograph transmittal envelope addressed to Manson and signed by Fromme in the return address area, with prison censor's stamp. Fromme mentions several Manson Family members, including 'Sadie' (murderer Susan Atkins), and including a sketch and making several holograph corrections. In part: '...On channel 7 T.V...they had a four part special on the Manson Family similar to the one they had right at the beginning of Leslie's [murderer Leslie van Houten] trial. They played excerpts [of] the interview they did with blue [Family member Sandra Good]...started out by comparing CM's influence on Family to Pavlov and his dog...They showed blue talking, saying that what happened in '69 was 'perfect'...They showed old film of C[harlie] and girls and Bobby [Beausoleil] etc. going to court and the girls on the corner. She mentions further content she had viewed in the series, including psychiatrists calling Manson 'psychotic and crazy and deluded...to get money, power and sex...' Fromem also mentions Family members and associates Tex Watson (whom she calls a homosexual), Paul Crocket, and Brooks Poston, and 'Bees'. She concludes asking Manson about his clothing preferences and adds a small drawing of a shirt she proposes to make for him. Envelope is wrinkled a bit affecting signature, letter is very good.
