Description:

A unique Luftwaffe Wehrpass belonging to Mittelbau and Sachsenhausen guard Wilhelm Kreienbrock, issued in Minden on March 1, 1937. After serving with Local Defense units from 1940 to 1942, he was assigned to the 1st Company of the 1st Battalion of the 5th Luftwaffe Field Division on October 13, 1942. From 24 June to 15 December 1943, he was assigned to the 5th Company of Luftwaffe-Jaeger-Regiment 9 (Air Force Rifle Regiment 9). After more transfers within the Luftwaffe, he was assigned as a guard to the Sonder Inspektion (Jagerstab) in Nordhausen - a unit formed by Albert Speer to provide slave labor to increase fighter aircraft production. He then was assigned as a guard with the 3rd Company of 'Luftwaffe Guard Battalion B II', used to guard a subcamp of Buchenwald and later converted into an SS guard unit. On September 1, 1944, Kreienbrock was transferred to the SS when 'Luftwaffe Guard Battalion B' was renamed as 'SS Wachbataillon Mittelbau' ('SS Guard battalion Mittelbau'), which was later redesignated to 'SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann Mittelbau' ('SS Death's Head Battalion Mittelbau'). On September 1, 1944, his rank of Obergefreiter (Corporal) was changed to the SS equivalent of SS-Rottenfuhrer, and he was transferred again to the 'SS Wachbataillon Sachsenhausen' ('SS Guard battalion Sachsenhausen') on January 1, 1945. Well-stamped and incredibly detailed, the documentation still bears Kreienbrock's portrait and particulars within and remains in very good condition, save for three file holes on the front cover.
