LUFTWAFFE TRANSPORT / GLIDER CLASP IN SILVER, OTHER MEDALS (4)
Lot of four German Third Reich era badges and medals, including: a Luftwaffe Transport and Glider clasp in Silver, 76 mm wide and 26 mm high, showing an eagle in flight clutching a mobile swastika, backed by a circular laurel wreath which is flanked on each side by a cluster of oak leaves. This two-piece clasp is constructed primarily of silvered tombak, comprising of a wreath, flanked by the two oakleaf clusters, and mounted to the front is a separate magnetic eagle attached by a single rivet. Unfortunately, this piece is lacking the main attachment pin and hinge, although flat wire catch is intact, with the tombak wreath and oakleaves being devoid of the original silver wash except for minute traces; SOLD WITH: an SA Sports Badge in Gold, this class reserved for the war-disabled, a 2 in. diameter badge, it was issued by the SA, the first Nazi paramilitary organization, between 1933 and 1945. At its center is a broad sword aimed skyward, superimposed over a Nazi swastika encircled by a circular wreath of oak leaves, with a straight pin back. Marker embossed on the reverse: 'W. REDO, SAAR, LAUTERN', additionally marked with: 'E.N'TUM D. OBERSTEN, S.A. FÜHRUNG' (Property of the SA Supreme Command); a War Service Cross with Swords, 2nd class, in Bronze, lacking ribbon, and showing a couple spots of oxidation; a War Service Cross 2nd class in Silver, also lacking ribbon. All four pieces in very good condition.
