Description:

Early Third Reich M35 combat helmet, identifiable by its riveted vents and rolled rim, finished dark slate-grey overall, and with the exterior bearing remnants of a very unusual light-brown camouflage scheme in both smooth and sand-finished paint, flaking in several large areas. The left-hand side bears a Luftwaffe eagle decal with talons, tail, swastika and wingtips partially missing, and with a triangle faintly visible around the decal indicating paint applied around the decal, although this is mostly now missing. The right-hand side bears a German tricolor decal, with some losses to the corners. The left-hand interior skirt is heat-stamped "SE64", indicating manufacture by Sachsische Emailler und Stanzwerke A.G. of Lauter. The rear skirt is heat-stamped "4172". The interior is fitted with a dark brown leather liner, size-stamped "57" and bearing the partial name "W.Sch" inscribed in black ink, with a second badly faded and illegible ink inscription. The liner shows extensive wear and flaking, and the rivets securing it are somewhat loose, indicating removal at one point in time. No chinstrap is present. Offered as is.
