LUDWIG CRUWELL(1892 - 1958) German general, Crüwell became commander of the Afrika Korps on 31 July 1941, answering to Rommel, who on the same day took command of Panzer Army Africa. Captured in 1942 when his pilot mistook a British airstrip for friendly Italian forces. Scarce war-date partial D.S. as "General der Panzertruppen", 1p. 4to., [North Africa], Feb. 20, 1942, in German, untranslated but appears to be a listing of soldiers recommended for military awards. Nicely signed at bottom in indelible pencil. A few marginal losses, largely from file holes, else very good .
