(1638 - 1715) "The Sun King", King of France who undertook a series of wars with neighboring countries, yet is most remembered for impoverishing of the masses as he reigned at the height of France's "Golden Age". Fine content early D.S. "Louis" as King, 1p. folio, St. Germain en Laye, Feb. 6, 1679 in French. The 41-year-old king orders the Swiss company de Stoppa which is in the citadel and fort St. Jean de Marseilles, to send off as soon as possible twelve companies of the regiment of Navarre then en route to the scene. The force is then to proceed to the Chateau Trompette where it will remain garrisoned until further orders are received. Co-signed by Secretary of State of the Military, MICHEL LE TELLIER, MARQUIS OF LOUVOIS. Light dampstain at left and a chip affecting one word of text at right, else very good and entirely presentable.
