Description:

Louis Armstrong & His All Stars 1958 Concert Poster
Since 1947, Armstrong had been fronting small combos with a rotating cast of musicians. From the line-up advertised for this appearance in Maine at Old Orchard Beach's Palace Ballroom, the addition of bassist Mort Herbert dates this poster to 1958. Rounding out the group were veteran All Stars Billy Kyle (piano), Trummy Young (trombone), Velma Middleton (vocalist) and relative newcomer Edmund Hall (clarinet), who came on board in late '55. Supporting Armstrong was former All Star alumnus, trombonist/vocalist Jack Teagarden. This 14" x 22" cardboard poster is missing the upper right corner, has two creased corners and tack/staple holes around the border, four of which infringe on the red area of the poster.
