Description:

Good lot of three original American World War II "Loose Lips" posters, each warning of the dangers of inadvertently revealing important military information to enemy spies. Includes: highly graphic poster, 14 1/4" x 20", illustrated with an image of a soldier's hand lying beside a rifle butt in a pool of blood wreathed with barbed wire, beneath the title "Somebody Blabbed". Inset into the illustration are the commands: "...don't talk about ship movements! ...don't talk about war production!", continuing at bottom: "Button Your Lip!" A publishing line at the bottom edge gives instructions for ordering additional copies from the Graphics Division of the Office of Facts and Figures, and indicates that it was produced by the Government Printing Office in 1942. Shows original mailing folds with minute splits thereto, else very good. WITH: a second full-color poster, 14 1/4" x 20", depicting a U.S. Navy sailor peering out of a porthole, surrounded by the warning: "If you talk to much... This Man May Die". A publishing line at the bottom edge gives instructions for ordering additional copies from the Bureau of Public Inquiries of the Office of War Information, and indicates that it was produced by the Government Printing Office in 1942. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: an additional copy of the poster described above, showing small tears to the top edge and original mailing folds, else very good. Three pieces.
