(ABRAHAM LINCOLN) A rare, original war-date green printed invitation pass to "...the Private View of Carpenter's Great National Picture of President Lincoln's Proclamation of Emancipation before the cabinet..." on Sept. 21, 1864. Francis Bicknell Carpenter (1830-1900) was an acclaimed New York portrait artist best known for his painting of Lincoln reading the Emancipation Proclamation to his cabinet, which currently hangs in the United States Capitol. Slight creasing at left, otherwise very good condition. Along with an original admission ticket No. 1589, admitting the bearer to the gallery of the House of Representatives to celebrate the Centennial of George Washington's birthday, Dec. 11, 1889. Printed by the Bureau of Engraving. Very good condition, two pieces. $200 - 300
