Description:

(LEXINGTON AND CONCORD) BUCKMAN''S TAVERN ACCOUNTING MEMORANDUM
Rare document concerning, and likely emanating from Buckman''s Tavern, Lexington, Massachusetts, the rendezvous ehere Capt. John Parker''s Massachusetts militiamen assembled during the predawn hours on April 19, 1775 to await the British forces'' approach. Parker''s company of just over one hundred and thirty men kept warm next to the tavern''s fireplace during that cold morning. As dawn approached the men filed out the tavern''s doors and to await their destiny. This rare Revolutionary War era manuscript document is an accounting memorandum, found among the papers of Massachusetts militiaman Col. John Gerrish, 2pp. folio, with various expeditures and debts owed by Philemon Wright and William Porter during 1786 and 1789 for lodging at Buckman''s Tavern, Lexington. One of these entries notes: "Mr. Philemon Wright''s claim against Will''m. Porter, a note of bond July 4th, 1786…Juli 6th 1789 Wright''s deed…Bill of cost at Mr. Buckman''s in Lexington…next week thursday at James Fowl''s one o''clock…".
An interesting document with various names mentioned throughout which are worthy of further researching. Expected toning
