Description:

(1726 - 1798) American Revolutionary politician and Signer of the Declaration of Independence who sat with Washington in committee to determine the ways and means to supply the colonies with ammunition and military stores and saw his estate destroyed in retaliation for his patriotic sentiments. Partly-printed D.S. signed "Lewis Morris" as a member of the New York state legislature, 1p. oblong 8vo., [Albany?], Apr. 7, 1790, a receipt for his wages as a state senator, payment of 75.12 pounds for the period from January 12 to April 6, including travel time. Boldly penned and signed, also signed by ISAAC ROOSEVELT (1726–1794), merchant and Federalist politician who served in the state assembly and the state Constitutional Convention and achieved the most political success of any Roosevelt before Theodore Roosevelt. Isaac was the patrilineal great-great-grandfather of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Near fine.
