Post-war A.L.S., 4pp. 8vo., Walpole, MA, March 25, 1804, sent to Colonel Luke Drury (1737 - 1811) by his son, Ephraim. In part: "I have not heard from you since we had a son born...not enney means to communicate with you...menny cattle have died for the want of hay...snow 4 feet deep...no Raine has fallen...I wish that you would let me have som money $200...". Ephraim signs at the conclusion. Significant wear to the left margin, some adhesive residue, else very good. According to the Luke Drury Papers, currently located in the Special Collections of the University of Massachusetts, Drury, a farmer and grift mill operator, joined the Militia in 1757 to protect his hometown of Grafton during the French and Indian Wars. When the alarm of British invasion spread on April 18, 1775, he was serving as a Captain of Militia and marched his company to Concord and Lexington to repulse the British. Nine days later, he raised a company and joined Colonel Artemus Ward's regiment to fight at Bunker Hill.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
