Leopold III 1901-1983 King of Belgium who surrendered the Belgian Army to the Germans in 1940 and was by some considered a quisling, remained under house arrest for the duration of the war, thereafter resided in Switzerland. D.S. 1p. folio, Brussels, Nov. 20, 1936, an attractive, partly-printed document accepting John C. Wiley's appointment as Consul General at Anvers. Light toning, otherwise very good.
