Description:

(1920 - 2019) Dallas homicide detective who was escorting Lee Harvey Oswald through the basement of Dallas Police headquarters when Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. Fine content T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Garland, Texas, Dec. 30, 1994, detailing events on the day Oswald was shot. In part: '...had we been able to go to trial we would have proved that Oswald was the lone shooter. Ruby did get into the basement due to a five or ten second break in the security...having only one officer guarding that ramp, as he turned his back to check traffic Jack Ruby who had just walked up stepped behind the bumper of the car walked down the ramp and mingled with the news media people...I did check this out and verified this. What he told me was that he did it because he wanted to be a HERO...Mr. L.C. Graves the detective on the other side of Oswald was not cuffed to him...several thousands of hours investigating the assassination, not one bit of proof was ever found to indicate that there was any conspiracy. Yes I did work with Oliver Stone on the movie JFK but it is just that, a movie not a documentary...' Leavelle signs at the conclusion above his printed name, fine. Included are the signatures of FELIX RODRIGUEZ, CIA agent in charge of Operation 40, theorized to have a role in the Kennedy assassination, and JAMES TAGUE, the only known civilian to have received a wound on the day of the assassination. The signatures appear on two separate cards. Three pieces, fine.
