Great grouping of five documents from the estate of DMITRY YAZOV (1924-2020), the last Marshal of the Soviet Union, appointed to that rank on 28 April 1990, and the only Marshal born in Siberia. A veteran of World War II, Yazov served as Minister of Defense from 1987 until he was arrested for his part in the 1991 August Coup, four months before the fall of the Soviet Union. Documents include: Printed D.S. from VIKTOR KULIKOV (1921 - 2013), Warsaw Pact commander-in-chief from 1977 to 1989, 1p. oblong 8vo., 1972, a card congratulating Yazov for his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant-General, signed at bottom right; a birthday card commemorating Yazov's 50th birthday; a document promoting Yazov to the rank of Lieutenant-General; a small note transferring the gift of a 'movie camera' to Yazov from the Commander-in-Chief of Ground Forces; and a document congratulating Yazov upon his promotion to Major General. Generally very good condition.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
