Description:

L.F. & C. TRENCH KNIFE
WWI U.S. Mark One 1918 trench knife by Landers, Frary, & Clark - L.F. & C., with metal scabbard, pitted on one side, repainted. Known as the "1918 Brass Knuckle" knife, this weapon has a double-edged dagger blade. The handle is made of cast bronze, chemically blackened, with spikes formed on each knuckle. The spikes were intended to prevent an opponent from grabbing the knife hand, as well as to improve the striking power. This knife was so effective in hand-to-hand combat that it was also issued early in WWII.
