KURT 'PANZER' MEYER
(1910-1961) High-ranking member of the Waffen-SS and commander of the SS Division 'Hitlerjugend'. He participated in the invasions of France and the Soviet Union, the defense of Normandy, and other campaigns, and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. In course of the war, Meyer came to be regarded as capable military commander, but also earned notoriety for ordering the mass murder of civilians and prisoners-of-war. Rare T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Hagen, May 28, 1958 in German to 'Mr. Thompson', probably H. Keith Thompson (1922-2002), an American corporate executive and a figure within American far-right and fascist circles. In part: 'I am pleased you have found further material for your work from my 'grenadiers'. Even if I did not manage to remember every single phase of the fighting while writing the book and to record all precise times, there is still a good overview of the overall course of the fighting...' Fine condition. Sold with a copy of 'Der Freiwillige', a publication for former members of the Waffen-SS, 30pp., this issue covering Meyer's funeral. Two pieces.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
