Description:

KURT DALUEGE
(1897-1946) SS-Oberstgruoenfuhrer and Generaloberst der Polizei, governor of the protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Daluege carried out the complete destruction of Lidice, in retaliation for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, which included the murder of all male residents. Tried and executed for this crime at Nuremburg. Historically-important printed D.S. 10" x 14", Berlin, June 21, 1943, signed less than eight weeks before Daluege would be forced into retirement after suffering a massive stroke, in which he promotes his friend Kurt "Panzer" Meyer as "Hauptmann der Gendarmerie". Boldly signed in brown ink at conclusion. Meyer was later promoted within the SS by Hitler the same day, and selected by the Fuhrer to command the young grenadiers of the SS in the Panzergrenadierregiment 25. Hitler specifically asked that this division be filled with members of the Hitler jugend organization. Very light toning, a bit of wear to edges, but otherwise fine.
