STANLEY KUBRICK (1928-1999) American film director and producer whose works include A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket. Scarce, good content T.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 4to., MGM Studios, Boreham Woods [England], Oct. 8, 1966 [while filming "2001"], to noted composer Phillip Lambro. In part: "...If you would like me to listen to some of your tapes, I would be very pleased to, but I must tell you that we have already hired a composer for this film... ". Fine, with transmittal envelope possibly signed by him "S. Kubrick " in block letters in return address. Kubrick had in fact hired famed composer "Dr. Strangelove" composer Alex North to score the film, but ultimately used pre-recorded classical tracks. $250-350
