Description:

KU KLUX KLAN ROBE, HOOD, SASH AND ACCOUTERMENTS
Ca. 1920's white cotton Knights of the Ku Klux Klan robe, with accompanying hood, sash, rope belt and other accouterments and accessories. The robe is full-length, closed at the front with five carved bone buttons, and with a white cape attached at the collar. The left breast bears an embroidered 4 in. dia. Knights of Kamellia emblem, and the number ‘431' is inked inside the collar at the rear. The white cotton hood is fitted with a full face mask with stitched, circular eye holes, and with a stiffener marked with the size ‘7 3/8' in pencil. In addition to the tasseled white cotton rope belt, the outfit is completed by a rare red satin Knights of Kamellia second degree baldric sash, approx. 34' long, with embroidered white camellia flower sewn thereto, and with braided gold filigree at the end. The robe shows one or two small, faint stains, but the ensemble is otherwise in fine condition. The collection further features an original black vulcanized canvas robe carry bag with snap closures, as well as two Knights of the Ku Klux Klan membership cards, one signed by an H. L. Frakes and the other unsigned, as well as a rally admission tag, to be worn on a robe button. Eight pieces. This lot being reoffered due to a non-paying buyer in a previous auction.
