Description:

Inert German 88mm high-explosive anti-aircraft round, 29 1/2" long, 4 1/4" dia. at the base, as used with a variety of Kriegsmarine weapons of World War II, most notably the 8.8 cm SK C/35 carried as a deck gun aboard type VII U-boats. The base of the steel case is marked "8,8 35 St", "aux" (the code for maker Polte-Werke of Magdeburg)", "duw" over "9" and the date 44, along with several indistinct black ink markings. No primer is fitted. The side of the high-explosive projectile bears several stamped markings including a minute "Waffenamt" eagle, with several additional black ink markings. The aluminum fuse appears to retain its original firing pin, and is marked "KZ28 bwn [code for maker Friedrich Krupp AG of Essen] 42 9", with a minute Kriegsmarine acceptance stamp in the form of a national eagle over "M". Fully disassembled and deactivated, shows light oxidation and patina, else very good. Provenance: The War Museum, New York.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
