Good group of six documents and pieces of ephemera related to Aron Frankel, a Polish Jew residing in the Krakow Ghetto, includes: partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Krakow, Oct. 6, 1941, issued by the "Beauftrage des Distriktschefs für die Stadt Krakau" ("Commissioner of the District Chief for the City of Krakow"). Frankel is ordered to report to his local district office to receive his ghetto identification card and "Judenarmzeichen" ("Jewish arm badge"), in exchange for a fee of 20 Polish zloty. Signed at the conclusion in pencil by an official. Shows folds and minute chips to the edges, else very good. WITH: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Krakow, Nov. 11, 1940, an order issued by the Jewish Operations Department of the Krakow Employment Office, relieving Frankel and another individual of their jobs at a public bathhouse, citing a law forbidding Jews from holding such employment. This form also lists Frankel's birthdate as December 8, 1926, indicating that he is only fourteen at the time. An official signs at the conclusion in pencil. Shows folds with some notable splits thereto, else very good. WITH: Partly-printed document, 1p. oblong 12mo., Krakow, Dec. 11, 1940, a pass allowing Frankel to travel freely within Krakow for a month from December 1940 to January 1941, and dictating that he carry his identification papers at all times. The form also indicates his occupation as a "Rabbinatsbote", or Rabbinical assistant. Documents related to his father, Rabbi Simon Frankel, are offered elsewhere in this sale. Bears the stamped signature of an official at the conclusion. Shows folds with minor splits thereto, else very good. WITH: partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Krakow, Dec. 22, 1938, a report card from Frankel's Jewish school, reporting his satisfactory grades for the first half of the 1938-39 school year. The school's headmaster signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows folds with slight splits thereto, else very good. WITH: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 12mo., Krakow, July 12, 1942, a receipt issued to Frankel by the "Judische Gemeinde in Krakau" ("Jewish Community in Krakow"), acknowledging his payment of 5 zloty for an unstated charge. An official signs at the conclusion in pencil. Very good. WITH: patly-printed document (unsigned), 2pp. 4 1/4" x 1 1/2", Krakow, Oct. 15, 1941, a receipt acknowledging Frankel's move into the Krakow Ghetto. Stamped by the registration office of the "Judische Gemeinde". Shows a chip to the top edge, else very good. Six pieces. According to records held by Yad Vashem, Frankel was imprisoned in Mauthausen as of August, 1944, but his final fate is not recorded. The Krakow Ghetto was completely liquidated by March of 1943. Worthy of further research.
