Description:

KONSTANTIN VON NEURATH (1873 - 1956) Nazi diplomat and Hitler's advisor on foreign affairs. Later served as Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia. An excessively rare relic, a metal desk set bearing his name as Reichsprotektor, labelled in relief on one side: 'Protektorate Bohmen und Mahren...Konstantin von Neurath...Deutsches Reich'. This label is dated '1943' - the same year Neurath was permitted to resign as Reichsprotektor. The piece bears scalloped edges and feet, with finely-etched embellishments around the perimeter. The center section includes the original removable pen holder and two crystal inkwells with hinged lids. Each inkwell appears well-used, with ink stains within, some acid oxidation to the underside of the lid, and some small chips to the exterior which do not detract. The piece appears silver, based upon the slight greenish-brown patina scattered throughout, though any hallmarks or manufacturer's marks are not present. Lightly patinated from age as mentioned, else very good condition. From an established collector of Third Reich relics and tableware, with an emphasis on items from occupied Bohemia and Moravia.
