Lot of five signed T.L.S.s and one signed holiday card by Knights Cross recipients, including FRIEDRICH RUGE, FERDINAND HEIM, GUSTAV HARTENECK (2), and FRIEDRICH HOSSBACH. Heim signs a holiday card that was hand-made and calligraphed by him during his captivity, sent to Major Fred Bieri of the Geneva Red Cross. Hossbach writes a fine content T.L.S. ‘Hossbach', 2pp. 4to., Gottingen, March 26, 1969, answering questions of Dr. Charles B. Burdick. In part: ‘...Hitler told me repeatedly in private on January 25th and 26th, 1938...that [Werner von] Blomberg's successor should again be a general. Hitler gave up this point of view and already on the next day shared with Gen. [Wilhelm] Keitel his decision to assume the supreme command himself...' Hitler said the following to Keitel: ‘...I want to have a new adjutant who will be my and your confidant but not a confidant of other souls...' The T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Bonn, Feb. 12, 1960, by Ruge contains a humorous line of his time during both world wars, in part: ‘...I have never been wounded only been made a prisoner of war after both of the wars, which was rather a nuisance...' Lastly is a pair of T.L.S.s, each 1p. 4to., Isartal, 1967, signed by Harteneck. In these letters he speaks of the copies of all important decisions and orders he kept during his time as Chief of the General Staff of the 2nd Army. Each letter bears mailing folds, and the card has been mounted to a 4to. sheet. Five pieces, fine condition.
