KIRILL MERETSKOV
(1897 - 1968) Marshal of the Soviet Union who in World War II was falsely accused by Laventri Beria of being a traitor. After enduring two months of torture, he was released by Stalin, becoming Commander of the Fourth Army. He is credited with helping to defeat the Germans at Leningrad and the Japanese at Manchuria. In the post-war era he was appointed Assistant Minister of Defense. Partly printed D.S., 4pp. legal 4to., Nov. 16, 1949, as head of the Belarusian Military District, an attestation that "A Hero of the Soviet Union, Peter Ivanov, performs well in the position he occupies in the Soviet Army". Boldly signed on the third page, very good. Meretskov was one of the highest ranking Red Army officers of the Stalin period!

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry.
