Description:

Kriegsmarine clock believed to have been intended for, or removed from, a German Kriegsmarine surface ship. The clock shows obvious signs of extended use, with a 6 in. silver face, a brass case and bezel, secured firmly by six screws, and a blackened steel or aluminum back movement cover which locks into place. The clock's face contains Arabic numerals, and a German eagle with swastika above the letter "M" at left. Most likely constructed by Kieninger & Obergfell, the clock still bears the second hand which is often removed. The case-back of the time piece bears the serial number"12539", and the digits"39" is stamped to many of the component parts. The dial is in superb condition with no signs of oxidation. There is evidence that the brass case, 3.75 in. deep, had been previously painted, yet the piece has since been restored to its original finish, leaving a fine patina on the finish with some negligible spots of paint inside the frame's ridges. The Kriegsmarine type winding key is present, and the clock is believed to be in good working order. Some minor dents and scratches on the case, yet in very good condition overall. An increasing scarce - and desirable - Third Reich timepiece.
