JACK KEROUAC (1922-1969) American novelist whose publication of On the Road made him the foremost figure of the Beat generation of the Fifties and Sixties. Exceptional A.L.S. "Jack " with an additional original verso of haiku poetry added by Kerouac on verso, written in pencil on both sides of a postcard, Hyannis, Sep. 26, 1966 to his psychiatrist and close friend, Dan DeSole. DeSole was treating Kerouac but also supplying him with amphetamines, allegedly for weight loss purposes. Kerouac writes in full: "Dear Danny - If you come to Brockport Stella's [Kerouac's third wife] gonna keep the Hyannis house, Tony'll [Tony Sampas, Stella's nephew and also a close Kerouac friend] be in Lowell where I'll meet him around Saturday the first or Sunday the second of October so he can drive us back to Hyannis & pick up Stella - I'll be in Italy 3 days. SEE YA! Jack " On verso Kerouac pens some original poetry in haiku style: "What is life? When you get formal a cow moos in Japan ". Some marginal flaws, else very good to fine condition. Kerouac's lasst book was dedicated to DeSole. $2,000-3,000
