KENTUCKY-ISSUED OATH OF ALLEGIANCE
Scarce field-printed oath of allegiance issued to a Confederate P.O.W., 2pp. 6 1/2" x 3", Ruseelville, Ky., Nov. 26, 1862 given to Allen B. Bryant who promises to support the Constitution of the United States and not give aid, comfort or information to the "so-styled Confederate States, who are now or may be in rebellion...". Signed by Bryant at bottom. The verso, signed in type by Col. Sanders D. Bruce, is a military pass allowing Bryant to pass through the lines. Cell-o-tape repair to a split on recto, folds and slight toning, else quite good.
