Description:

201. JOHN F. KENNEDY (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated November 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. Excellent personal content A.L.S. "Jack", 3pp., 4to., [Feb. 1939] requesting arrangements be made on his behalf: "Am flying up to N.Y. Wed. afternoon... Am planning to take my car to Europe so would you let me know the cheapest way to get it over. It's now at Harvard and a friend is bringing it down on the 22nd. It can be shipped on the Queen Mary but if its much cheaper we might as well send it on a slower boat. Could you get me a dentist appointment with Clancy for around four on Thursday afternoon. Also would like to see Dr. Cook for a few minutes. He gave me some serum to combat my dog & horse allergy. It was not successful in that I still get asthma from them but I thought that if he thought it would do any good I would try it again..." Notations in pencil in another hand "arrange insurance on Jack's car", also dates of appointments made per JFK's request, and date of receipt of letter. Very good. $4,000-5,000
