JOHN HARVEY KELLOGG (1852-1943) Physician, surgeon and avid advocate of health reform as dictated by the Seventh Day Adventists, Kellogg, along with brother Will invented and popularized the corn flake, revolutionizing American breakfast habits. A.L.S. "John Harvey Kellogg", 1 page, 8vo., on imprinted stationery of Hotel McAllister in Miami, Florida, December 5, n.y. [1930s]., to fellow health nutritionist Curtis Freshel. At a time when Kellogg was considering locations in Florida for a new sanitarium, he writes his friend: "...Am just starting north for St. Petersburg. Will stop over at Sarasota on the way. Shall reach S- - by noon to-morrow I think". In a postscript, he adds: "Will call up Hotel McAllister to-night and give my address". Ink smudged when originally penned, otherwise in very good condition. Letters of Kellogg are rarely encountered. $200-300
