Description:

(1900 – 1981) German admiral who was naval adjutant to Adolf Hitler during World War II. On 20 April, Puttkamer, Dr. Theodor Morell, Dr. Hugo Blaschke, Albert Bormann, secretaries Johanna Wolf, Christa Schroeder and several others were ordered by Hitler to leave Berlin by aircraft for the Obersalzberg, with Puttkamer instructed to destroy Hitler's papers and personal belongings at the Berghof. Good pair of signed items, includes: Fine content A.L.S., 2pp. legal folio, Dusseldorf, March 17, 1959, to a Mr. Bumball, in part: "Today I will mail the first package, in response to your letter from 24.2.59, for which I thank you. It contains a picture of myself...from 1944...further I will send you a Christmas wish from Hitler to my wife, with which he included a pound of coffee, which was very valuable back then. But I can't say for certain if it is a printed signature or handwritten by Hitler. You can keep the card. Then a collection of 21 photos...I also have promotion documents signed by Hitler, which I will not give away...I also own a golden party badge... a wound badge from July 20.1944...a single example, of which only a few existed..." He signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows folds, else very good. WITH: Fine content and association A.L.S., 2pp. oblong 12mo., [place uncl.], Feb. 17, 1970, to Wehrmacht general WALTER WARLIMONT (1894-1976), who was also wounded in the July 20 bombing, and was suspected of being a conspirator. In part: "To answer your question, I can tell you that the real Wound Badge from 20. Juli displays the sign L12 on the backside...what the sign L12 means I don't know..." He again signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows a heavy vertical fold at center, else very good. Two pieces.
