Description:

KARL HEINZ BUHLER
(1912 - 1984 ) German SS artillery officer in the "Wiking" Division and Knights Cross recipient. Excellent pair of items, includes Buhler's "Personalangaben", 4pp. 4to., [n.p., likely Gotha], Nov. 7, 1938, a personal information disclosure form in which he discloses his education, training, experience with the polizei, etc., boldly signed at conclusion. Damp stained and chipped at margins, file holes, still quite good WITH related document, a T.L.S. by Waffen-SS Gen. WALTER SCHMITT (1879-1945), head of the SS-Personalhauptamt and later an aide to Himmler. Schmitt writes to Buhler advising him that he is forwarding promotion documents to the leadership main office. Some toned spots. Two pieces. Buhler's Knights Cross was presumably awarded by SS-Oberstgruppenführer Sepp Dietrich, which would make it an unlawful presentation. The Order Commission of the Association of Knight's Cross Recipients (AKCR) processed this case in 1983 and officially granted the award, making Buhler likely the last recipient of that prestigious award.
