Description:

JULIUS STREICHER'S ANTI-SEMITIC CHILDREN'S BOOK
A disgusting example of Nazi propagandist Julius Streicher's anti-Semitic propaganda machine, the children's book Trust No Fox on the Green Heath and No Jew On His Oath, (Nuremburg: Sturmerverlag, 1936). This book, along with Streicher's two other children's books, were considered such dangerous material that they were routinely destroyed by the Allied occupation wherever they were found. Incredibly, the book was written by one Elwire Bauer, an 18 year-old art student and kindergarten teacher! It was illustrated by Philip Rupprecht, Der Sturmer's cartoonist "FIPS". This 10" x 8" book bears an image of a fox and a caricature of a Jew with a Star of David on the cover. Within are 21 tales, each accompanied by a full-page color picture. Main chapters include "The Father of the Jew is the Devil", "Once a Jew, Always a Jew", "Don't Buy From the Jew", "The Sabbath", etc. Illustrations within are equally insulting, including impoverished Germans being evicted by a Jewish landlord, a banker groping a German girl, a Jewish teacher and pupils being taunted, Jews being banned from a lakefront, and Jewish families being deported from a town. Streicher included himself in one plate, depicted as: "...Streicher, the valiant man from Franconia who stood up against the Jews!". Four of the plates and several pages of text bear childish scribbling on them, binding is loose and cover is soiled, still overall good to very good. A vile tract yet still an important item in the Nazi's historical record. The first few pages bear a few small toned spots at bottom margin, else very good to fine condition.
