JULIUS AND ETHEL ROSENBERG ARE CONDEMNED Newspaper, The Cleveland News, 30pp. folio, Cleveland, June 19, 1953, bearing the banner headline: "ROSENBERGS MUST DIE, HIGH COURT, IKE RULE...Execution Set Tonight; Appeal to Burton". The report commences: "...The Supreme Court and President Eisenhower slammed shut all legal avenues to atom spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg today and their execution was set for tonight...Eisenhower turned down a final plea...He acted within minutes of a Supreme Court decision denying the Rosenbergs a stay..." Eisenhower is quoted in the story, as is the Supreme Court decision which doomed the couple. The Rosenbergs are pictured at center, above another story titled: "Rosenbergs Hear Bad News While Eating Prison Lunch". It relates how the couple learned of their impending demise over the prison radio. Disbound, extreme margins a bit brittle, else very good. The Rosenbergs were executed at sundown the same day, at New York's Sing-Sing Prison.
