JOSEPH-IGNACE GUILLOTIN
(1738 - 1814) French physician and politician, a defender of capital punishment who proposed the use of the beheading machine later named after him and put to extensive use during the French Revolution. Manuscript L.S. "Guillotin" 1p. 4to., Paris, "8 Floreal", [n.y.], to M. Le Mercier of the Senate, an affectionate letter to his "dear old colleague", not translated, but apparently social contact and extending friendship. Boldly signed and in very good condition.
