Description:

(1897-1945) Nazi Minister of Propaganda with Hitler from the earliest days, a master of manipulation of the masses who took his life and those of his family members in the last days of the war. Important typed manuscript signed "von Goebbels" with multiple underlinings and a few emendations in his hand, 6pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], apparently an article or perhaps a speech by Goebbels entitled:"Education and Leadership". A great insight into the mind of the propagandist, in which he largely compares the political systems of Great Britain versus Germany. It reads in small part: "...Leaders are born, classes of leaders are brought up...Politicians are taught, administration can be taught, drilled, guided and bred. Whether a brilliant political mind is given to a people is the right to a higher degree of fate...That is a question of conscious drawing and breeding. The history of a people, which is determined solely by sporadically appearing political leaders, who are not subject to any statutory effects, thus get something random and unpredictable...the English people is a political people because they have always been raised and bred for politics. The laws of political life have passed over to the Englishman in blood...Here are the possibilities that also open up prospects for the national socialist movement to greatly expand from its partisan form...Duties can only be taught by those who do. May the National Socialist movement always remain aware of this task. It will then be able to carry out a much larger mission for the German people than the one that it has set itself purely in terms of program: to build the Germany character in the outside world! It will then give the German people a new form of awareness, which, over centuries, will prepare the formation of a German character in history..." Paperclip stains to top of first page, else very good.
