JOSEPH DUDLEY
(1647 - 1720) Colonial Governor, appointed president of New England by James II, a member of Andros' council and detested by the colonists for his role in that administration, Governor of Massachusetts (1702-15). Scarce manuscript D.S. "Dudley" as Governor of New Hampshire, 3pp. legal folio, Pomfret, July 25, 1706 being the minutes of a meeting of the "Council and General Assembly... " concerning a variety of matters including payments to the militia. Toned tape reinforcement at one margin, usual folds, catalog description affixed to bottom of third page, else very good.
