JOSEPH B. KERSHAW
(1822 - 1894) Confederate major general who directed Morris Island in the bombing of Fort Sumter, commanded a brigade at Antietam, Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg, captured at Sayler's Creek.Rare A.L.S. "J. B. Kershaw" on his law office letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Camden, S.C., June 15, 1877, with postally used envelope, in part: "...I have been waiting for the opportunity to write you to thank you for your noble and distinguished support in the recent elections...It will be the aim of my life to justify your good opinion...". Very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
