Description:

(1790 - 1862) Tenth President of the United States following the death of Harrison, annexed Texas, and remained loyal to Virginia following its secession. Scarce franking signature "J. Tyler" on a folded mailing cover addressed in his hand to "Mr. Ewell President & Professor of Wm. & Mary Williamsburg". Tyler's red wax seal appears on verso. Docketed by Ewell at left. Near fine. Benjamin Stoddert Ewell (1810–1894) was a United States and Confederate army officer, civil engineer, and educator from James City County, Virginia. Ewell formed the 32nd Virginia Infantry and had the primary responsibility for developing and constructing the Williamsburg Line. After the Battle of Williamsburg, Ewell left the 32nd Virginia Infantry to join the staff of Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. He was later adjutant to his younger brother, Gen. Richard S. Ewell, who was a senior commander under Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Post-war, Ewell was instrumental in reopening the College of William and Mary.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
