JOHN TYLER
(1790 - 1862) Tenth President of the United States following the death of Harrison, annexed Texas, and remained loyal to Virginia following its secession. Partial-printed D.S. "John Tyler", 1p, 4to., May 13, 1844, Washington. It reads: "I hearby authorize and direct the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the Uniter States to the further respite of David Babe alias William Brown, until the 19th day of July next dated this day, and signed by me and for so doing this shall be his warrant". Light toning to edges, else very good condition. Sold with a portrait engraving.
