Description:

JOHN QUINCY ADAMS
(1767 - 1848) Sixth President of the United States, Secretary of State under Monroe who principally formulated the Monroe Doctrine. A.N.S. as President penned on the verso of a check from the Bank of the United States, Washington, Nov. 27, 1826, paying $2,000 to Adams. In full: "Pay the within to my credit in Bank J. Q. Adams 27 Nov. 1826". Two small marginal tears, a contemporary mounting strip at top, overall very good. As this is a very substantial sum drawn on a public bank, we cannot help but presume it could be a presidential salary check.

Accepted Forms of Payment:

American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Money Order / Cashiers Check, Paypal, Personal Check, Visa, Wire Transfer
