JOHN LEYBURN
(1814-1893) Influential Southern clergyman in the Confederacy who became an official of the First General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of the Confederate States of America in December 1861. Rare war-date A.D.S. "John Leyburn Secy. Presbyterian Publication Board", 1p. oblong 8vo., Richmond, Apr. 11, 1864, certifying that "Mrs. Martha Terry, is a worthy & estimable lady, & I have every reason to believe a true friend to the Confederacy. Her husband being in Baltimore, she is anxious to join him". Hastily but boldly written on a partial Confederate-gray lettersheet. Rough, toned left margin, otherwise very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
