Description:

(JOHN LENNNON) Mary Elizabeth "Mimi" Smith (née Stanley) (1903-1992) "Aunt Mimi", John Lennon's aunt who raised Lennon from infancy to adulthood and to whom he remained closely attached for his entire life. A.L.S. "Mary", 4pp., 8vo., Woolton (a suburb of Liverpool where Lennon lived most of his childhood and adolescence), Jan. 23, 1950, with a very interesting reference to nine year-old John. In part: "I was so pleased to hear from you. So was John. He says he is going to write to you when he has 'peace' - whatever he means by that. He certainly missed you at Xmas & new year but hope to see you in the summer...John spent Xmas at the cottage, & we had our celebrating about 9 or 10 Jan. but we haven't been to the Pantomime yet. I have managed to get seats for the big Panto at the Empire. Leila & John are very excited...". Very good.
